ASOCIO ICT Summit is known as one of the region’s high-powered IT forums, provides a platform for government and industry to exchange information and developing closer relationship and most importantly, identifying new business opportunities among members associations.
Recently, ASOCIO ICT Summit and General Assembly 2017 was held in Taipei International Convention Center (TICC) from September 10 – 14, 2017. This year, ASOCIO ICT Summit 2017 was organized concurrently with the World Congress of Information Technology (WCIT) and was co-hosted by The Information Service Industry Association of Taiwan (CISA).
This time, there were total 305 delegates from more than 17 countries that participated in this summit such as Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
On the first day, the General Assembly meeting was held at the Elegance Room at Taipei International Convention Center (TICC). During the meeting, few members’ associations proposed to host different annual events for 2018. ASOCIO’s next upcoming event is the International Smart City Conference and Japan ICT Day at Ho Chi Minh City from 24 – 28 October 2017. This event will be co-hosted by Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) and People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
During the Summit, CISA organized special programs and dinner receptions such as a welcome party, Taipei’s Culture Night and Gala Dinners to all ASOCIO delegates. This is the valuable moment where all members’ associations get to know each other, exchange business contacts and reunite again as a family.
Besides that, ASOCIO delegates also had the opportunity to attend the Taiwan Cloud Computing and IoT Day business matching session with Taiwan IoT and Cloud Computing companies on 11 September 2017. After the business matching session, Mr. David Wong (Chairman of ASOCIO) presented a souvenir plaque to Dr. Jyuo-Min Shyu (Chariman of Cloud Computing Association and former minister of ministry of science and technology).
In addition, ASOCIO launched its first inaugural research report entitled ‘Reimagining the Digital Era’ on 12 September, which makes this summit a remarkable and memorable event. Mr. David Wong (Chairman of ASOCIO) and Mr. Jeungbae Son (Chair of Research Committee) delivered a presentation of the research report after the official launch ceremony. Certificate of Recognition were presented to all the research committee members.
On the same day, the ASOCIO ICT Excellence Awards and Gala Dinner Night was held as well. There were total four categories of awards and 36 awards plaques presented out during the ceremony, such as Outstanding ICT Company Award, Outstanding User Organization Award, Digital Government Award and ICT Education Award. ASOCIO Leadership Award was presented to Mr. Jong-Chin Shen, Minister from Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan. This year, there was a special ASOCIO Honorary Award presented to Mr. Ritchard Yin, the Founder and Former President of ASOCIO. This is in recognition and appreciation of his contribution and dedication to ASOCIO and ICT Industries in Asia Pacific region.
The last event that was held is the ASOCIO farewell party hosted by CISA at Grand Taipei Hotel. There were few souvenirs given out to all CISA staffs and working group for their diligent contributions to make this Summit a successful event. Besides that, souvenirs were also given out to top 4 members associations (PIKOM, BCS, ATCI and JISA) who brought the most delegates to attend the Summit this year in Taipei.
