At the preparatory meeting in June, Tokyo , Japan , representatives of the information services industry in the Asia Oceanian region suggested that an organization be formed. A meeting of promoters was held in Tokyo in October. Preliminary Statutes and Plans of Activities of the organization were deliberated at this meeting.
The 1st ASOCIO General Assembly was held in October, Japan. Attending organizations were JISA ( Japan ), ASOCIO Australia ( Australia ), KIIA ( Korea ), CISA ( China , Taipei ), NZCSA ( New Zealand ) and observers from China , Hong Kong , Philippines and Singapore .
The following Officers were elected: Ichiro Tanizawa ( Japan , President), Kevin Morrisey ( Australia , VP), Y.T.Lee ( Korea , Secretary) and Fujimoto Kazuro ( Japan , Director)

Private and Public suggestions on the industry development were shared at the 1st Regional ICT Minister/ASOCIO Dialogue which was later dubbed the Chiang Mai Dialogue. H.E. Colombo, Sri Lanka-ASOCIO 20th Anniversary, the Officers Meeting, 22nd General Assembly, ASOCIO ICT Summit themed “A Network for Regional ICT Leadership” and the 3rd Regional ICT Minister/ASOCIO Dialogue, hosted by FITIS, inaugurated by Mahinda Rajapakse, President of Sri Lanka. The event was adopted as a national event in Sri Lanka, commemorative stamps were issued. Hon Prof Tissa Vitharana, Minister of Science and Technology was the Guest of Honor at the ministerial dialogue.
8 Past Presidents, 9 individuals and 3 organisations received recognitions from Mahinda Rajapakse, President of Sri Lanka at the ASOCIO 20th Anniversary Dinner. The ASOCIO IT Award 2004 was presented to Prof V.L. Samaranayake.
Policy Paper on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) was adopted. Computer Society of Kenya (CSK) and Information & Computer Technologies Industry Organization of Russia (APKIT), accepted as Guest Members, bringing the total member of ASOCIO to 26 member economies. Shanghai, Hangzhou, Dalian-China-ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit
The ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit (MTV) to three cities in China was attended by 40 delegates from 30 member companies. The eight-day program concluded with interaction with over 100 companies from China, major government offices and software parks. Participated members were Hong Kong (ISIA), India (NASSCOM), Malaysia (PIKOM), Mongolia (MIDAS/MONITA), Nepal (CAN), Pakistan (PASHA), Singapore (SiTF) and Thailand (ATCI).

Bangkok-Thailand-ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit & the 3rd Bangkok International ICT Expo.
More than 150 delegates from 100 companies from the Asia-Oceania region were awarded complimentary booths at the 3rd Bangkok International ICT Expo. Software and services companies from 16 economies that banded under ASOCIO Pavilion were hosted by Ministry of ICT, Software Industry Promotion Agency (SIPA), Board of Investment (BOI), Software Park Thailand, and Association of Thai ICT Industry (ATCI) during the Multilateral Trade Visit program. The event include seminar and business matching for local and foreign companies.

Hangzhou-China-ASOCIO Trade Delegation
41 business delegates from ASOCIO were hosted by the Informatization Office of Hangzhou Municipal Government to the Hangzhou IT Industry Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum. The event was held in conjunction with The West Lake Investment Expo & Collaboration Week 2006. Participating economies were Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Tokyo-Japan-Themed “Regional Alliance in the midst of Paradigm Shift”, JISA hosted ASOCIO 24th General Assembly, ASOCIO ICT Summit, Executive Meeting and exhibition in Tokyo. India (NASSCOM) and Korea (FKII) signed an MOU themed “India-Korea IT SME Friendship Building Program” to boost the exchange of activities amongst their SME member companies. Ashank Desai from NASSCOM was elected ASOCIO President 2007-2008. Richard Yin elected Deputy President. Hong Kong (ISIA) was awarded the right to host ASOCIO ICT Summit 2008 in Hong Kong. 16 member economies attended the event including a tour to the Embedded Software Expo in Yokohoma.

Singapore-Themed “Powering the Engine of Growth in Asia through Entrepreneurship and Innovation, SiTF hosted ASOCIO’s 25th General Assembly, ASOCIO ICT Summit, Executive Meeting in Singapore. The ASOCIO IT Award was conferred to Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) which has distinctively contributed to the development of the industry. A high-level round table with Dr. Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and Arts of Singapore was held and attended by the Chairman of ASOCIO members. The Asia Pacific Award namely APICTA was held together with ASOCIO for the first time. |

Beijing-China-Secretary-General and board members from Hong Kong association (ISIA - Information and Software Industry Association) had an official meeting with Ministry of Information Industry (MII), China Software Industry Association (CSIA), Beijing Software Industry Association (BSIA), China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP), China Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Association (CASTE), Henan Provincial Commerce Department and Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Beijing. The delegation had a discussion on China’s membership with Mr. Chen Chong, Chairman of CSIA.

Hong Kong-Themed “Asia-Oceania’s Emerging Role in the Global Digital Creative Economy”, ISIA hosted ASOCIO’s 26th General Assembly, ASOCIO ICT Summit, Board Meeting and Executive Meeting in Hong Kong. The ASOCIO IT Award was conferred to Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO), The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Ashank Desai was extended a one-year term by the General Assembly to lead the organization as ASOCIO President.

Mumbai, India – ASOCIO Panel Discussion was organized at the NASSCOM Leadership Forum that was attended by over 1600 delegates globally. ASOCIO President, Ashank Desai chaired the session with high-level panelists. 2009 MAY
Melbourne, Australia – President and Secretary-General met with the host and organizing committee of ASOCIO ICT Summit 2009, AIIA board members, potential sponsors, Victorian government officials and attended the iAwards Presentation night where ASOCIO was highlighted.

Vientiane – Luang Prabang, Laos – LICA hosted a business meeting with the local members in and ASOCIO Plenary Meeting and Strategic Planning Session Vientiane and Luang Prabang city.
2009 August
Bangkok, Thailand – 5 ASOCIO member economies namely Bangladesh, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam strengthened their regional co-operations by forging ties at the MOU signing ceremony held at the Bangkok Business Visit program. The ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit (MTV) program was downsized due to the H1N1 flu threat and cancellation of the Bangkok ICT & Broadcasting Summit.
2009 August
Hanoi, Vietnam – President led the ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit (MTV) delegation to Hanoi in conjunction with World IT Forum (WITFOR). The visiting members from India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand made a courtesy call to the ICT ministry and visited the FPT University besides attending the business matching and display their products at the exhibition.
2009 September
Suzhou – Chongqing, China – President led the ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit (MTV) delegations to attend the 4th Enterprise Application Forum in Suzhou and later visited Chongqing city in China. The forum in Suzhou was attended by over 100 foreign delegates from China, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Nepal.

Phuket, Thailand – 8 ASOCIO member economies joined ASOCIO Multilateral Trade Visit (MTV) to attend the Asia Oceania Regional Software Park Forum 2009 held in Phuket. The Software Park Chairman.

Washington DC – San Jose, USA – 7 ASOCIO member economies joined ASOCIO Business Exchange (ABE) to Washington DC and San Jose. The members attended the Global Services Summit where presentations was made by trade ministers from more than 10 economies. The members then move to meet Silicon Valley companies and exchanged information with various stakeholders.
